چکیده
We investigate the relationships of often-publicized live cattle to box beef price spread and weekly Saturday slaughter capacity utilization (CU). find that an increase in previous period does positively impact national CU under a low regime, but not identified middle high regimes. Also, changes or except for regime. Our results do support notion weekly, is used by packers control spread.

Capacity utilization in data envelopment analysis with integer data
In the process of production, some of the inputs are fixed and cannot easily be changed, such as work hours of workers and hours of administrative or work, these types of inputs are fixed and others are variables. In this paper, by considering some inputs or outputs which are limited, their amounts must be integrated; this concept for integer data is extended. We show the importance of subject ...
متن کاملImpacts of corn price and imported beef price on domestic beef price in South Korea
South Korea is one of the largest beef importing countries in the world. Australia, USA, and New Zealand provide the majority of beef they import. The objective of this study is to evaluate the price relationship of Korean cattle and corn, prices of the imported beef and corn, and prices of Korean cattle and imported beef. We examine threshold points using threshold vector autoregressive (TVAR)...
متن کاملA Theory of the Capacity Utilization/Inflation Relationship
T he relationship between capacity utilization and inflation is quite variable. Figure 1 shows the time paths of utilization and inflation for the United States over the period 1953:1 to 1995:4. Two features characterize this relationship. First, inflation and utilization often move in opposite directions. The most dramatic episodes of negative comovement coincided with the 1973/1974 and 1979 p...
متن کاملCollusive price leadership with capacity constraints
In this paper, collusive price leadership in homogeneous good capacity-constrained repeated price competition is examined. In the stage game, firms choose their timing of price setting. Although setting a price early is disadvantageous per se, a large firm has an incentive to move early in order to demonstrate its commitment not to deviate. If the discount factor is not too large, this behavior...
متن کاملPrice and capacity competition
We study the efficiency of oligopoly equilibria in a model where firms compete over capacities and prices. Our model economy corresponds to a two-stage game. First, firms choose their capacity levels. Second, after the capacity levels are observed, they set prices. Given the capacities and prices, consumers allocate their demands across the firms. We establish the existence of pure strategy oli...
